A business stack should follow the work.

Start with the customer journey and compliance needs. Add software only where it removes a repeated problem.

The six jobs worth covering

Most one-person businesses need a dependable way to capture enquiries, organise client information, produce quotes or proposals, schedule work, invoice customers and understand what has been paid. Marketing and analytics come after those foundations.

Begin with the workflow

  1. Write down how a new enquiry currently arrives.
  2. Follow it through quoting, delivery and payment.
  3. Mark every manual re-entry, forgotten follow-up and duplicated document.
  4. Choose a tool only where it removes one of those points.

Keep accounting and tax claims separate

A lightweight invoice or spreadsheet tool may help organise records, but it should not be described as Revenue-compatible accounting software unless that support is explicitly documented. Confirm VAT, payroll, bank-feed and filing requirements with the provider and your accountant.

A sensible starting stack

JobStarting point
EnquiriesOne short form feeding one client list
ProposalsOne reusable document template
DeliveryA simple task board or calendar
InvoicesA supported invoicing/accounting product appropriate to the business
Follow-upA small CRM or scheduled reminder process

NeoDev Market recommendations are independent. Third-party software charges are separate unless an offer explicitly says otherwise. Read our editorial policy.
